Our year-long Algebra students and teachers combined classes today to revisit their Unit 1 material! 🎉 Students either jumped into remediation for topics they still needed to master or took on an exciting accelerated challenge—and WOW, did they rise to the occasion! 💪 We are beyond proud of the hard work and enthusiasm we saw today. Excellence all around!
A HUGE shoutout to our incredible community partners, Chick-fil-A on St. Augustine Road and Texas Roadhouse, for generously donating gift certificates as prizes. The students were pumped to receive them! 🙌👏 #StrivingForExcellence #StudentRockstars #CommunitySupport @onelowndes

Today, students in Ms. Gray's printmaking course took a tour of Arrow Screen Printing, a local screen printing business here in Valdosta. They explored screen printing as a career in the art field and were able to witness all of the different aspects of running a screen printing business.
First, students got to see how a t-shirt order is started between a customer and Arrow. Then, students got to meet the amazing artists behind the t-shirt designs and how they are able to take customers' ideas and make them a reality. After that, students saw the printing process in action, all the way from exposing screens with light sensitive emulsion to watching printers load automated printing machines and also manually printing shirts, which is done by hand! We even got to see finished shirts stacked and prepared for customers!
These aspiring artists had so much fun learning about this important field of art. Thank you Arrow Screen Printing for sharing such an awesome experience with our Lowndes High kids! #OneLowndes #BetterTogether

Mrs. Yancey’s Drawing 1 class has been tackling Charcoal using a self-created still life as their subject! This is an incredibly difficult (and messy!) medium but the students have done so well! First they set up their still-life using objects in the classroom, then they took their own pictures, created thumbnail sketches and enlarged their sketch to twice its original size. Their final work was 16x20 and the students are rocking it! Mrs. Yancey is so proud of the these artists!

FCCLA Officers attended the State Lead officer training in Fort Valley at Camp John Hope. Rachael Adair is serving as a region officer for this school year. One of her duties requires her to create and facilitate workshops for fellow students. We are so proud of Rachael for doing such a great job at presenting her workshop with her fellow region 8 officers.
Also pictured are Makenzi Yates, Nia Brown, and Rachel Huynh with current FCCLA State President Jhirris Smith from Apalachee High School. #OneLowndes #BetterTogether

Today Ms. Mitchell's American Literature classes at LHS commemorated the anniversary of 9/11/01 by reading about the famed "Falling Man" photograph. They took a stance on the issue, and reflected through writing about the strength of pathos, or arguing from emotion. @OneLowndes
