Information for Families

You can find the most current information about the COVID-19 closure of the Lowndes County Schools system and how we are supporting you and your students on this site . We have recently added a Support Page for students with special needs, and we also have shared on this site information about emotional support lines open to families in Georgia.

We understand that internet access is a challenge for many of our families and the community. The district has established open and filtered internet access at the main parking lot of our seven elementary schools and the Parker Mathis Learning Center. This access is available from 8am to 7pm. Families must access the internet from within a vehicle and maintain social distancing. We are working on installing access at the middle schools this week. [The school buildings are closed and there are no accessible restroom facilities, plan accordingly.]

Instructional packets for students without access for online learning: PreK-8 schools are publishing instructional packets every two weeks. Packets can be picked up at the front of the school the student attends. New packets will be available on April 27 and May 11. LHS is distributing packets every Wednesday at the 5 food distribution sites (CES, MBES, LMS, PGMS, HMS). LHS students should return packets each Wednesday and receive work for the following week. New packets will be available April 22.
